Writing for newspapers

I want to write for a newspaper. To do this I need to apply to the best path is to apply directly to newspaper editors. Also, it is advantageous to apply to newspapers that I know something about. For larger papers, I could write the main editor or select the editor of the department that interests me the most (city desk, news desk, lifestyle, sports, etc.). I should know that traditionally, people start at smaller newspapers and work their way up. It is very unusual, for example, for a major metro newspaper to hire someone right out of college. And so my search begins.

Wonderful Idea!

Writing for a newspaper is an exciting job. If you enjoy writing and researching I think this would be an excellent path for you to take. Just realize that this job requires a lot of work, and may take you away from family and friends frequently. If you haven’t yet I suggest you take some college English and writing courses to help you secure the job. The higher the learning and experience the better the chances of getting that dream job. If you are in college join the school newspaper or even if you are in high school this works to. This will give you a little extra to put on the resume.
