Just what is strength in chess? What makes a strong move? For instance, when a chess player becomes World Champion after the match he says he was the "strongest" player. Or when some players pray before a match, they don’t pray for victory, they pray for the strength to win. When a grandmaster analyzes a position, he cites pieces, the mobility of pieces, positions, deployments, moves, and possible lines of play for their "strength". Just what is strong in chess? Do you get more out of a practice playing online or playing against someone that is sitting in front of you?
